The Lefkoşa (Nicosia) – Gazimağusa(Famagusta) road will be closed to traffic in line with security measures for a cycling event taking place tomorrow.
The cycling event will be held within the scope of the “21-25 December National Struggle and Martyrs’ Week”, and will kick start at 7.30 am, Saturday, in front of the Girne (Kyrenia) Gate (Martyrs’ Monument) in Lefkoşa (Nicosia) .
All junctions and roundabouts on the above mentioned route will be closed to traffic. Cyclists will be accompanied by police escort.
The police statement is as follows:
“Turn right at the Honda Traffic Lights junction via Bedrettin Demirel-Abdi İpekçi-Journalist Kemal Aşık and Şehit Mustafa Ahmet Ruso streets, to the Lefkoşa-Gazimağusa(Nicosia-Famagusta) main road, then left at the Dörtyol junction towards Atlılar, Muratağa and Sandallar villages. Following the same route, cyclists will return to the Lefkoşa Girne Gate, which is the starting point.”
Drivers who will use these routes have been asked to drive slowly and carefully and obey traffic signs.
