Rules for foreign license holders have been amended


North Cyprus Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Department announced that rules for foreign license holders have been amended.
According to this:
(1) A person holding a valid driving license issued in a foreign country needs to convert it to a Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Driving License on the day their visitor permit expires.

(2) Person with a valid driving license issued in a foreign country other than the Republic of Türkiye;
The registrar may issue a student driver’s license valid for a period of six months to a holder of a foreign driver’s license, upon payment of the statutory fees.
The applicant must then attend a driving school within a week from the date of application. The applicant must take driving lessons for a minimum of five days, (eight hours during the day and two hours at night) under the supervision of a driving school instructor and a vehicle provided by the driving school.
(The applicant will then submit a document of completion from the driving school together with the receipt from the Driving Licence Renewal Unit and apply for a Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus 5-year driving license.)
